Bounded by their affinity for out of town football teams, Jon and Jill’s story starts in a Tavern. Jill was a bartender at Johnny’s Tavern and Jon was a frequent patron. Jon came in regularly with his friends and Jill noticed him the moment he walked into the bar for the first time, struck by his handsomeness. They began to have small conversations while Jill was bartending. One Sunday, while Jill was bartending, Jon came in with his friend Joe Czyz before their softball game. Jill was wearing the colors of her favorite team, the Oakland Raiders, and Jon remarked that she “looks really good in black”, she looked at him and said “what football team do you like?!” He smirked, and remarked “The Chicago Bears.” From that moment, the conversations got longer and Jon eventually mustered the courage to ask for Jill’s phone number.
Their wedding day was on the most beautiful of October days. There’s no doubt about just how beautiful of a wedding that Jon and Jill put on for their guest. The ceremony and reception were held at Peeper Ranch in Lenexa, KS. The atmosphere of the entire day transitioned from palpable anticipation to overwhelming joy and fun.
The bridesmaid situation was particularly notable. All of them were Jill’s sisters! In their “Getting Ready” room, there was Grandma, Mom, Jill and her four sisters. How special is that?! Grandma was knitting quilts for Jon and Jill’s future children. Once Jill finished getting dressed, the room seemed to stand still. She looked, in a word, perfect. Everyone was so excited and it was officially time to get the day going.
Jill did a first look with her dad and it was so sweet. I got a number of great pictures from that moment and I think the family will cherish them for years to come. Shortly after that, Jill and Jon experienced one of my favorite moments from any wedding day, their first look. They both looked so happy and so deeply in love. The big day was finally here!
The bridal party and I gallivanted all over Peeper Ranch to get portrait shots of everyone and the pictures turned out wonderfully beautiful. I loved working with this group of people. Everyone was just so fun and enthusiastic. I also want to take a moment to give a shout out to the bridal party, everyone was so attentive and helpful to Jon and Jill which made the wedding day go so smoothly.
At last, it was time for the ceremony. The ceremony took place under the beautiful gazebo right by the lake. There was just so much happiness in the attendance, it was almost unbelievable. Jill and Jon placed the rings upon each other’s fingers and we headed off to the reception.
The reception was gorgeous. There was gold cream and sparkle everywhere. It was so well done and it felt as if it were straight out of the pages of a magazine. Nick and Jake’s catered the event and the food was absolutely delicious. Their first dances were flawless and memorable and it wasn’t long before all of the guests were dancing the night away.
