Elizabeth and Jonathan met online in the fall of 2010. After briefly conversing online, he asked her if she wanted to meet in person. She said yes. They met at a Starbucks for a drink and had plenty of nerve-centric conversation. They continued to hit it off and before they knew it, hours had passed and he asked her if she was hungry. She said yes. They had talked all the way to dinner time. From there, they headed over to Barley’s Brewhaus for dinner and more conversation. A 90’s cover band was playing at the bar, so they stayed the entire night, listening to and, allegedly, singing along with the band. Unbeknownst to them, they stayed until the bar closed down.
A couple of years later, Elizabeth and Jonathan were just getting home from Schlitterbahn. They did what dog owners do when they get home from anywhere and let the dogs outside. Elizabeth, out with the dogs, heard Jonathan yell from the doorway “Hurry! You need to come see this!” She followed him inside and back to their room where everything seemed commonplace. When she turned around to ask Jonathan why there it was so important that she come inside, she saw he had the ring box in his hand. Stunned, Elizabeth asked “Are you about to…” Before she had a chance to finish her question, he was down on one knee, asking her to marry him. She said yes.
Their wedding came on an idyllic fall day. The ladies got ready at a salon in Downtown Overland Park, while the gentlemen got ready at Mahaffie, the venue where the wedding would later take place. Elizabeth’s sister and friend helped her put her dress on and we got so many wonderful shots of that moment! The motif of the wedding was different shades of purple; it could have been a focus shoot for a bridal magazine. The bride’s aunt did the flowers and they turned out wonderfully.
We took some time to do all of their portrait shots at Mahaffie and I’m so happy with how they turned out. These two were so great in front of the camera that it made my job so much fun!
The ceremony was on the patio and it was filled with laughter. There was such a sweet sentiment in every detail of the ceremony. We got a number of great pictures out of this!
Reception started shortly after the ceremony and everyone had such a great time. There were tons of fall colors, including mums in hollowed out pumpkins. People were dancing for nearly the entire evening. So much fun! The groom isn’t a fan of cakes, so they got pies from The Upper Crust. These two really had everything figured out. They were such a cute couple and they had an absolutely fabulous wedding.
