Mitchell and Colleen Schae got married on a beautiful fall day this past weekend. They were both absolutely wonderful to work with and so much fun. They were always into spring break in a big way when they were dating in college, normally venturing down to Panama City for their vacation. Colleen Schae’s senior year, however, was a bit different. Mitchell had previously gone to the zoo in Omaha, NE, fell in love with it and wanted to share it with his bride-to-be. Upon arriving in Omaha and checking into the hotel, Colleen Schae realized that she had forgotten her dress. Knowing that Mitchell wanted to take her out to a nice dinner, she was put in an unbearable predicament. She would have to go shopping. After shopping, the plans had to change and rather than the original dinner plan that Mitchell had in mind, he had to improvise. His plan was for a formal, sophisticated dinner, followed by a walk through the Lewis and Clark Land. With daylight quickly fading, Mitchell had to move the walk to before dinner. It was an incredible scenic view, albeit freezing cold. They stopped on a bridge to enjoy the serenity of the view. The sun started to go down, so Colleen Schae figured they were about to leave. At this moment, Mitchell reached into his top right pocket and pulled out a ring. Mitchell asked Colleen Schae to marry him and she exclaimed “Yes!” She went on to cry more happy tears than she has ever cried in her life.
Their wedding day was perfect. The ladies got ready at Colleen Schae’s parent’s home and everyone was all smiles all day. Their home was gorgeous and gave me a beautiful backdrop for some of her dress photos. After everyone was ready, we went to their family church and where the wedding would later take place, Prince of Peace. The women finished getting ready in the basement while the gentlemen got ready upstairs. The ceremony was so great and everyone was so excited for their first kiss. It was a perfect moment.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to Weston, MO for the reception. Our first stop was at Pirtle Winery to get some portrait shots. My husband and I love Pirtle Winery, so I knew how amazing the pictures would turn out before we even got there. After the winery, we went over to Weston Brewery Company to take pictures in their underground bar. It was so much fun and so unique to them. After the brewery, we headed to their venue, Weston Red Barn Farm. We took some shots in the apple orchard and caught a stunning sunset in the background.
Their reception was amazing. Everyone was having so much fun, with plenty of dancing and drinking to go around. The music was impeccable and there was such a palpable feeling of love and camaraderie at the reception. Colleen Schae shared a few dances with her Chi O sisters. It was such an amazing night.
I can’t thank you two enough for letting me be a part of your wedding. I hope you love the pictures, because I certainly loved taking them. Below are a few of my favorites and here is their full gallery!
