Winter weddings have a certain charm about them that make them so much fun and so special. The weather could not have been better for Nicole and Brett as they tied the knot on Saturday, November 28th. Contrary to the chilly conditions on the day of the wedding, they got engaged on an extraordinarily hot day in the middle of summer. Brett had asked Nicole to go running, but due to the steamy conditions they decided it would be better to take their dog, Dexter, for a walk. Nicole had one path in mind, while Brett was rather obstinate about going a different way. While on their walk, they happened upon a picnic. Brett threw Dexter’s ball in the direction of the picnic, with the ball eventually intruding upon the (what seemed to be) strangers’ picnic. Upon reaching the picnic to retrieve the ball Brett reached into the picnic basket, getting on one knee in the process, and pulling a ring box out of the basket. Brett’s brother and a mutual friend showed up taking pictures and recording. Days like that one have a way of staying with a couple forever.
The wedding was delightful. A perfectly planned, flawlessly executed day of love and celebration. The ladies got ready at The Westin Crown Center while all of the gentlemen got ready at 28 Event Space, where the ceremony and reception would later take place. The ladies had so much fun getting ready, I thoroughly enjoyed being with them in the room. Their room number was the most famous number in the city, 1738, truly an omen of how wonderful the day would be. The girls helped Nicole into the dress as Nicole’s mom zipped up the back of her dress. We got so many wonderful pictures of this moment! The day was cold, par for the course for late November, but these two were troopers! Luckily, in the images, you couldn’t tell how cold it was. These two had their first look at 28 Event Space and then we gallivanted to Liberty Memorial for some portraits and bridal party pictures. The view from the top of the hill was perfect and made for some beautiful images. These two were just so alluring and it absolutely came through in the pictures. After Liberty Memorial, we went to an ivy wall in the crossroads district. The red and green of the wall charmingly complemented their wedding day colors.
After the portrait session, it was time for the ceremony! Nicole had a special request for the shot of their first kiss. It was an angle I had never done before and it came out amazing! There’s tons of gratitude owed to Nicole for wanting that moment captured in such a unique and awesome way. They exited with their family and friends blowing bubbles. So fun!
The reception was next and it was lively the whole night. Everyone was having so much fun and the speeches seemed to perfectly encapsulate how much love everyone in the room had for these two. Brett’s brother was able to reference CrossFit a few times in his speech, it was amazing. The dance floor was hopping the whole night and I got some really great shots of everyone having fun.
Brett and Nicole, thank you so much for letting me a part of your day. It was so much fun and I hope you love these pictures. Below are some of my favorites & here is their full gallery!
