When most brides plan a December wedding, the hope is for snow. Instead of snow, Jade and Scott got a beautiful day with a high of 58 degrees. The weather cooperated in a different way than originally planned, but everything else went wonderfully. The ladies got ready at Hotel Phillips, a beautiful, historic hotel in Kansas City. The Christmas decor in the hotel complemented their wedding stylings perfectly, it was so beautiful. The gentlemen got ready at Scott’s loft downtown. Everyone was having a great time, the boys even played poker while getting ready for the big day. Jade’s mother helped her with getting ready, including putting on the opal earring and necklace set that she had bought Jade as a wedding gift. We got some incredible pictures of this moment. Their first look was on the steps of Hotel Phillips and it could not have been more beautiful. From there, we ventured around the hotel taking pictures at some amazingly unique areas of the hotel. There’s a picture of Jade and Scott in one-of-a-kind chairs that’s one of my favorite pictures in the whole album. I loved so many of these pictures at the hotel. After a few of these portrait shots, we went to St. Mary’s Episcopal for their ceremony. It was such a wonderful ceremony. There was so much love and joy in attendance to see Jade and Scott tie the knot. The church was so beautiful and allowed for some incredible pictures.
After the ceremony, we gallivanted around the city for pictures. The first stop was the always-gorgeous Kaufmann Center. All of the wedding party was so engaged and so much fun during this shoot. It made my job so easy and made the pictures so great! After the Kaufmann Center, we headed to Union Station. Jade and Scott really wanted Christmas lights in their pictures so, as any Kansas City native knows, we had to go to the Plaza! These two were so beautiful that they literally stopped traffic on the Plaza streets. I’m not kidding, a police officer actually yelled at us. It was such a great time!
From the portrait session, we headed to their breath-taking reception. The decoration was so incredible and made for some amazing detail shots. They were welcomed to their reception with love from their friends and family. Their food was so good! They served macaroni and cheese, brisket and fried chicken. Everyone was raving about their food. They had a naked cake that was amazingly delicious and beautifully decorated. Their DJ was awesome and really made it a fun party. It was such a memorable night and i was so honored to be a part of it. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them!
