Nick and Erika had an incredible wedding in Cancun. The resort was beautiful, the family and friends were joyous and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. I’m so thankful that they asked me to be a part of their weekend. As soon as we walked onto the resort on Thursday afternoon, I just knew it was going to be a beautiful wedding. We walked right into a beautiful lobby at Iberostar Cancun and they immediately greeted us with delicious drinks. After that we were escorted to our room and put our stuff down. The view from the room was spectacular! My assistant and husband grabbed a beer and we quickly started scouting around the resort looking for the best places to take pictures and we had such a hard time narrowing it down because there were so many beautiful spots! While we were out scouting, we actually ran into Nick and Erika. They were so excited! On Thursday evening we spent a lot of time getting to know their family and friends. Everyone was so great and friendly. Most importantly, everyone was so extraordinarily happy for Nick and Erika! We hit the hay early on Thursday (mostly due to waking up at 2:30AM to get to their airport for our flight to Cancun). We were early on rise on Friday and did more scouting of the resort and working with the employees of the resort to make sure everything went smoothly. I spent some time taking pictures of the beach and testing a few of the mojitos from the swim up bar. Don’t worry, they were great! Adam played ping pong with some of the guys from the wedding and the girls went on a small cruise to an island! So fun! I spent Friday night at a Japanese steakhouse with my husband and then went to the beach to get a feel for the lighting. The big day was almost here!
Saturday morning came with a beautiful sunrise over the ocean and their wedding day was here! We met everyone at their wedding brunch at the resort buffet and it was so beautiful. I got some great pictures of everyone eating breakfast and everyone having a great time. It was Erika’s sister’s birthday, so they had a donut with candles. How fun is that?! After the buffet, we went back to one of the bridesmaids villas so that all of the ladies could start getting their hair and makeup done. The hair stylists were local to Cancun and they were phenomenal. All of the girls looked so awesome! Erika did such a great job selecting details of the day and I LOVE taking detail shots so it was perfect. I really, really love some of the detail shots I got. The gentlemen got ready in a villa near the women and I headed over there to get some shots of Nick getting ready. The pictures turned out awesome! All of them were having so much fun together and it really came through in these pictures. Our portrait session happened near the rooms in the middle of beautiful trees and I’m so happy with how they turned out! The scenery was incredible and everyone was having so much fun and were complete engaged in the pictures. It was so much fun! The pictures turned out so, so great. Shortly after the portrait session, we had to head to the beach for the wedding. The excitement was building and everyone knew it was just the beginning of an incredible evening. It was such a surreal feeling being on the beach for the wedding. It was so perfect. A warm, slight breeze. Minimal noise, just the tranquil crashing of the waves. Erika, looking absolutely stunning, walking down the aisle towards Nick. It was the type of wedding everyone dreams about when they’re growing up. The ceremony was beautiful and there was a happy hour with a fully stocked bar on the beach for about thirty minutes and everyone had a great time. Shortly thereafter everyone sat down for dinner and the food was phenomenal. The speeches were incredible. The maid of honor had everyone tearing up and the best man had everyone rolling with laughter. Nick and Erika shared their first dance and then everyone headed out to sandy dance floor for the rest of the night. It was absolutely incredible, being able to photograph people dancing on the beach into the night. Nick and Erika, it was such an incredible weekend and I’m so, so grateful that you asked me to be a part of it. I loved every minute of it and the pictures turned out so great. Congratulations! I hope you had a blast on your honeymoon!
