Beth and Clay have known each other since they were in the third grade. Actually, Clay played on Beth’s Uncle Matt’s soccer team with her cousin, Ben. Years and years of playing soccer together brought them together and they became friends in high school. One night after studying, Clay asked Beth to be his girlfriend. Attending different universities and the distance that comes with it did nothing to stifle their love. Beth went off to UMKC to pursue nursing while Clay went to Missouri State University. Finally, last Fall, Clay moved to Kansas City to start the dental program at UMKC and to be with Beth. In January, Clay surprised Beth with a proposal with the help from her dog, Rocco. After being together for 7 years they were finally ready to be married.
Beth and Clay said “I do” on a beautiful spring day. Their wedding was the day after St. Patrick’s day so naturally they incorporated that into their décor. It was so great. The ladies wore green dresses and the men had green shamrock tie clips. The girls had so much fun getting ready and there was so much palpable joy in the room that Beth’s day was here. It was amazing seeing all these friends supporting her. The gentlemen got ready while they watched the game and they had a great time.
Beth and Clay shared their first look on the patio and you could see the excitement starting to build. These two high school sweethearts were finally going to tie the knot!!
Our first stop was at the Prairie Fire Museum. The wedding colors complemented the colors of the museum perfectly. It was amazing. From there, we went to my favorite location in Overland Park. St. Michael’s the Archangel Parish has the most beautiful architecture and the lines complement any bride & groom perfectly. Next, we sauntered over to the Lodge at Ironwoods where the reception was held. I loved all of the St. Patrick’s Day themed decorations. From the bells of Ireland to the floral arrangements to the signs, they had it all.
The reception was beautiful and unlike anything I had ever seen. Halfway through the ceremony, everyone sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley together and it was such a cool moment. After their ceremony, they shared a champagne toast on the patio with their bridal party and parents. Their reception was so much, the live band kept the dance floor packed all night!
